Anagram Partners, Omnivore, Avendus fund beef up top deck
Indian law firm Anagram Partners, venture capital firm Omnivore and a hedge fund housed under investment bank Avendus Capital have recruited senior executives to strengthen their top deck.
Anagram Partners has hired Shuva Mandal, one of India’s topmost M&A deal lawyers and former Tata Sons general counsel. Mandal has joined the newly established corporate law firm as partner, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Mandal began his career at AZB Partners and spent 15 years at the law firm. He then moved to law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas law firm to head the corporate M&A practice, before joining Tata Sons.
Anagram was founded by Simone Reis and Rajesh Simhan, senior executives at law firm Nishith Desai Associates.
Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, former chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), has joined agri-tech VC firm Omnivore as a senior advisor.
Bhanwala will mentor Omnivore’s portfolio companies, advise the VC fund on new investments and develop its rural fintech investment strategy. The VC firm has invested in more than two dozen startups in the last decade.
Avendus Alternate Strategies, a hedge fund under Avendus Capital, has roped in former ProAlpha Capital chief Rishi Kohli to lead a quantitative investment strategy vertical.
Kohli’s key responsibilities include integration of quant, alpha creation, risk management, and portfolio construction within long-short strategies. He was previously chief executive officer and chief investment officer at ProAlpha, the Indian arm of US-based alternative asset manager Monsoon Capital.
Avendus has also appointed Mehul Patel and Gaurik Shah as fund managers, and Viral Mehta as senior trader. All of them previously worked at ProAlpha Capital.
